SILTERRA SEES INCREASE DEMAND, PLANS WORLDWIDE EXPANSION
Company to Establish Sales Offices in Strategic Locations


Kulim, Malaysia (July 14, 2003) – Silterra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a leading semiconductor wafer foundry, today announced its worldwide sales and marketing expansion plan. The company is expanding its global presence in strategic locations such as Taiwan, Southeast Asia, Europe, Korea and Japan to provide high-quality local support to meet increased customer demand around the globe.

“The behavior of customers and their concern about access to capacity and value has improved,” stated Steve Della Rocchetta, executive vice president of worldwide sales and marketing for Silterra. “Business activity is improving in North America, which is traditionally our largest geographical customer market, in Asia and in Europe. To maintain the high-level of customer service that Silterra offers, we are setting up offices around the world to provide dedicated technical and sales support to our customer base and expand market share. Once this plan is executed over the next several quarters, we can address all of the high growth geographical markets directly.” 

Silterra will open satellite offices across Asia and Europe, with each office headed by a senior executive in addition to a complete team of sales, process technology and design experts. Working in conjunction with corporate customer engineering, these offices will have complete responsibility for and capability to support customers from business development to tape-out and production.

The foundry’s customer portfolio includes leading semiconductor suppliers that provide chips for a wide range of end-user applications such as DVD players/recorders, set-top-boxes, Ethernet and wireless LAN devices, disk drives, printers and others.
