SILTERRA APPOINTS BRUCE GRAY ACTING CEO
Ahmad Pardas Accepts New Appointment at UEM Group
Kulim,
Malaysia (June 2, 2004) – Silterra Malaysia
Sdn. Bhd., a leading wafer foundry, announced
today that Bruce Gray, executive vice president
and chief operating officer, would be the company’s
acting CEO effective July 1, 2004. Ahmad Pardas
Senin, appointed executive director of Silterra in
April 2003 on secondment from United Engineers
(Malaysia) Berhad and UEM World Berhad (“UEM
Group”), will return to UEM Group as Group
Managing Director and CEO. UEM Group is a
subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad, the
majority shareholder of Silterra.
During his tenure with Silterra, Ahmad Pardas was
instrumental in providing management leadership
resulting in significant improvements in the
operational performance of the company, including
the achievement of 100 percent capacity
utilization since August 2003, and positive EBITDA
for Q4 2003 and Q1 2004. During his leadership,
revenue grew 36 percent in 2003 amid the worst
downturn in the history of the industry.
To ensure continued, smooth business operations,
Bruce Gray has been named interim CEO by the
Silterra’s Board of Directors. He will continue
to oversee fab operations in addition to sales and
marketing, business planning and information
technology.

success in the global wafer foundry market. He has
shown the leadership necessary to make an impact
in this very competitive, high tech business and
provided a crucial interface for Silterra with
Khazanah,” said Bruce Gray.
Ahmad Pardas will remain as a member of the board
of Silterra as a non-executive director. The
company plans to name a new executive director and
CEO in the coming months.
Silterra is expanding its facility and plans to
have a production capacity of 29,000 wafers starts
per month before the end of the year, a 35%
increase over the current level, to support
customers’ rising demands.
