SILTERRA EMPLOYEES LEND A HELPING HAND
Kulim, Malaysia (January 17, 2005)
– A temperature controlled ultra-clean wafer fabrication facility may feel cool to some, but warmth and generosity have permeated SilTerra Malaysia Sdn Bhd as post-tsunami contributions flowed in from caring employees.
SilTerra employees raised almost RM 10,000 and collected 24 boxes of clothing and other necessities within 3 days after the tsunami hit countries in the region. The cash amount, which includes employee donation and company matching fund, has exceeded RM 23,000 to date. The contributions will be given to the victims in Malaysia, especially those who are related to the company’s employees.
“We are saddened by the devastation caused by the tsunami and wanted to help the victims recover from the disaster,” said Bruce Gray, President and interim CEO of
SilTerra. “We have always encouraged employees to be active in charitable causes and in protecting the environment. I am very pleased with this effort, and I am glad that most of our employees have also personally donated to major charitable organisations to help in the relief effort.”
The tragedy also affected the next of kin of some of the employees, resulting in loss of life and property. SilTerra employees are in the process of making a concerted effort to bring care and comfort to those affected.
SilTerra’s donation review committee, comprised of employees from different departments, oversees the company’s charitable contributions throughout the year. Most recently, Silterra donated RM 2,000 to the SRJK Tamil Padang Meha local school for urgent repairs.
In addition, Silterra and its employees have donated money, supplies, computers and their time to help disabled and day care
centres, orphanages and elderly care centre during the past year.
