SILTERRA NEW CEO TO FOCUS ON TOTAL SOLUTION STRATEGY

Kulim, January 8, 2007 – Semiconductor industry veteran Eg Kah Yee, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of Silterra Malaysia Sdn Bhd, revealed a customer focused strategy for the company’s next phase of growth. The strategy leverages Silterra’s strength in semiconductor process capabilities and the expertise of its network of design service partners and intellectual property developers. The company’s goal is to enable customers to reduce the concept-to-volume ramp time for early market success.

A high technology industry veteran and entrepreneur, Eg has over fifteen years of experience in electronic design automation (EDA) and system-on-a-chip (SoC) design. As an entrepreneur, he had founded KeyASIC, an intellectual property (IP) provider and ASIC design company, which has offices in Silicon Valley and Asia. In addition, Eg was also the founder and CEO of Palette Multimedia Bhd and had taken the company public successfully. He had held technical and management positions in Synopsys and Daisy Systems previously.

“Operationally, Silterra has become a very competitive wafer foundry that is capable of delivering leading edge products,” said Eg. “Our overall yield and reliability have matched, and in many cases, surpassed those of the leaders in the industry. The next step for the company is to offer a more integrated design solution to our customers. Our plan is to further develop the Silterra design community into a system-level capable, design mega-plex that provides seamless technical and manufacturing support.”

Among the vast competences of Silterra’s global partners include analog and RF design, processor core, low power techniques, high voltage capability, high speed interface expertise, programmable elements and system level design.

“Digital entertainment and wireless connectivity are the forces behind application convergence,” added Eg. “All of which is made possible by advances in high bandwidth networking and the availability of low cost broadband access. Together, these market segments will drive semiconductor demand for years to come. Silterra is not only expanding our integrated circuit design IP portfolio to ensure that customers have the critical components they need, but also the technical expertise that can help the customers to put their designs together expeditiously. These are the market segments that we have been successful in, and with the differentiated design solutions support, we will continue to gain market share.”

Silterra offers CMOS process technologies from 0.25- to 0.13-micron. The company’s IP portfolio includes an extensive collection of analog blocks, A/D and D/A converters, PLL, ARM® processors, voltage regulators, USB OTG/2.0, LVDS, SSTL, S-ATA, PCIe, Ethernet PHY, OTP memory, etc. In addition, the company offers foundation libraries from the leading library providers.
