SilTerra Announces Foundry Capability for Microcontrollers and Smartcard Applications with SST SuperFlash® Technology

-- SilTerra Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a leading semiconductor wafer foundry offering leading foundry matched CMOS technology, high voltage and mixed-signal technologies, announces a 0.18-micron embedded SuperFlash® licensing agreement with Silicon Storage Technology, Inc (SST), a leader in embedded flash solutions. The agreement will enable SilTerra to manufacture wide variety of low power microcontrollers, smartcards and other flash enabled products for its customers.
SST SuperFlash technology is fully compatible with SilTerra’s CMOS logic process. Due to its unique cell architecture, SST SuperFlash technology is
the most cost effective and reliable solution for wide variety of flash enabled products used in microcontrollers and smartcard devices. In 2009, over 4 Billion devices were shipped worldwide using this technology.

Both SilTerra and SST team jointly to install and qualify the embedded Flash technology at SilTerra fab. This technology is planned for pilot production for customer prototyping by end of 2011.
