SilTerra, with the support of imec, held its first ever technology symposium on “Semiconductors in Life Sciences”. The full-day event was held on the 18th September 2018 at the beautifully restored heritage UAB Building in Georgetown, Penang, the location of Khazanah Nasional’s Penang Office.

This symposium brought together attendees from multidisciplinary backgrounds ranging from semiconductor technologists to life science researchers, suppliers and technology companies to network and share advancements in the field. It is also part of SilTerra’s wider initiative to promote a more vibrant ecosystem in the region that will accelerate the adoption of next generation medical diagnostics and delivery systems.
The speaker line-up consisted of 12 technology experts from 7 countries. These experts are revolutionizing healthcare through their work that converges nanotechology into life sciences. Some of the key areas of expertise of these speakers and messages from their talks were related to silicon technology, germanium photonics, biosensors, cancer detection, antibody engineering, digital healthcare, genome sequencing, spectral sensing and electronic design tools. A total of 84 delegates participated in this symposium. The delegates included SilTerra employees, university lecturers and researchers, design and tooling vendors, EMS service providers, healthcare and electronics collaborative platforms and other stakeholders.
